icons to drupal is on
At the drupalcon @ yahoo i babbled about the interface of drupal and creating a bunch of icons / graphics / design interface thingies.
Actually i hoped that there were more graphic geeks there, but well we arent that big of a crowd at the center of übergeekiness - so no formal group of "Lets create more icons n design stuff for drupal - so its gonna look so delicious that you wanna lick it as a cherry" group were created, actually that isnt totally true i got a bunch of business cards, i have to write next week (note to self mdk promises to write all the drüpals he meet and that gave him his card)
Well Now (*taadaaah*) I finally got some time to start on some the icon work + a little interface design ideas, so this is the first couple of em, with a lot of inspiration from the wonderful silk icons & Gion sets.
The new icons are thrown into the iconify module (which i just rewrote, so its now 100% css based). the module isnt in cvs yet - i still havent figured out how to do that ;) - but soon i tell ya i will learn that stuff, or bribe some geek on thursday at the copenhagen/denmark drupal meetup
Yeah i know someone might ask "WTF are we gonna need this for Drupal is great as it is so Fåååååårk* off mortendk!"
Well some of us, webdesigners, designers & girls actually ;), needs a more "friendly" looking drupal one that isnt talking to that inner geek - but is talking to a more smooth and delicious part of us ... its all about the luv baby <3
oh and offcourse there gonna be out in gpl etc license, i just wanna be done with them first - right now im still playing around with the color scheme etc
More screens at flickr
and please comments, wishes and loveletters are always welcome :)
*this is the actually danish way to say it: fårk almost like "fog"
This is really good work -
This is really good work - I've downloaded your alpha 0.2, and it's certainly much more attractive - only problem is that the the different icon themes don't use the same style...
Tango has it's style guidelines - http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Theme_Guidelines
Giøn is very inspired by those, but do not really follow them, using more shiny and saturated colours. And the Silk icons are a theme unto themselves.
I'd really wish that all the iconeers out there would stop making a different set each and join the tango guys in making a _complete_ icon themes, so we wouldn't have to mix'n'match to get the icons we need...
In any case, CVS isn't so hard, its syntax is just ancient and evil...
@ mikkel yeah i know right
@ mikkel
yeah i know right now its a mix of my own stuff & tango & silk & a couple of others, im gonna fix that in the nearest future - the reason right now is just to get an idea of the look i want for each icon / the functionality - and no better way than to bite everything around ;)
The problem about the tango is they are not GPL :( - or did i miss something?
Mikkel im gonna force you to learn me that cvs stuff on thursday ;)
These are way too cool! They
These are way too cool! They should get into Drupal 6 core ;)
