Iconyfi alpha pixels dot 03

A new design were in place for my site, so here it is :) and the icon hell is goinng forward ... *Hurray*

iconify alpha 3

Im moving forward with creating an iconset for drupal, but maaan its loads of hard work to create all those small fckers - the response so fare have been great (thanx drüpals) It looks like i wasnt the only one were getting kinda tired of all the links - and no graphic indication of what did what.

Theres a lot of ground to be covered - not as much on the tech side - as there is on the concept, and just finding the right metaphor's for a given icon, is giving me gray hairs - im still trying to find the right one for "filter"- the first one were build on the way we brew coffey in denmark -but well only the people in red & white will understand that...

I have evil plans of luring the other half of noget med ILD into working with the icons - and then maybe throwing some company hours after it - but maybe we schould first release our redesign of the site *coughs* ;)

status is :
All the borrowed icons is out of the set -i found some there were lying around on my closet.
cleaned up a bit more of the code, so now the call back to localicer table is in a function etc, im still learning the drupal coding way (and ordered the book)

Who do i have to give a blowjob buy a beer to get CVS access?
So now i have applied for a cvs account on d.o (afaik its the hip way to say drupal.org), but apparently its not enough to use as an argument to get a cvs account that "i wanna Beatify drupal" ;) ... hmm maybe i schould be a bit more precise?
well anyways until i get that account etc, ill just keep updating "iconify" here on my site

Nice work. I think a funnel

Nice work. I think a funnel would work as an icon for "filter".

Yo Dude, After creating

Yo Dude,
After creating icons for hours/days - do you see the world in 8x8 pixels?

Nice idea - looking forward to see how it turns out.
Good luck with the CVS :)

Cheers,
Amitai

p.s. adding comments in FF2 works strange (the text is getting out of the frame)

Just putting the icons into

Just putting the icons into CVS wouldn't do that much good IMO. You need clear standards for the metaphors, guidelines for use and also guidelines for making custom icons (as well as the source files :) ).

And at the very least, there needs to be a very simple way for module coders to use these icons without having to repeat the files across contrib. For now, you could make it a module that contains the entire set, and which other modules can depend on (and cherry pick from). You could provide a theme_icon() function, so that if this is moved into core later, nothing needs to change for those who use it.

One could argue that icons should be handled by the theme, but otoh, graphical elements have been part of UIs for quite a while now and can be used stand-alone without text, regardless of the theme (toolbars, file icons, etc). Having a standard set in Drupal core is IMO a wise choice in the long run, especially if you give themers the possibility to override them at will with theme_icon(). You could even by default check for the existance of icons/foo.png in themes/bar/, using the default one otherwise.

One thing I've always wanted to do was add large icons to each item on /admin. All control panel-style interfaces use them: icons allow you to visually find the item you're looking for, and by sharing colors/metaphors/etc you can implicitly link related items together. It's just really, really hard to make good icons :P.

Yours look very nice and complement the Garland theme very well IMO. Let's get these icons into use and out there... we can discuss this on #drupal.

Awesome icons Morton. Not ditching myself, but I like them more than the Lullacons Icon Pack. Again, awesome.

Very cool & inspirational.
I don't suppose you have any outstanding ideas for icons that represent "menu expanded" and "menu collapsed"?

I'm doing my own icons

I'm doing my own icons implementation on www.empowerthyself.com (the site is presently slow for other reasons). We should join forces and contribute to the greater glory of Drupal! I like what you've done and I'm sure we both have big plans for the future.

Hi, I created (I didn't know

Hi, I created (I didn't know about your module) a Iconizer module for Drupal: it adds Icons near-by links in Admin section, and for links of well-know files and protocols (mailto:, skype: etc).. right now it has 45 Admin-Icons (taken from CrystalClear Iconset and some edited and mixed by myself)

It's called "Iconizer" and you can find it here: http://my.opera.com/thePanz/blog/drupal-icone-nel-pann-di-amministrazione
It's in italian language, give it a try and let me know!
Bye!
