I just wanna fill ya all in on the situation, that have happen that last 2 weeks in my life.
Im a proud (and scared) father now. My daughter Freya is premature shes almost born 13 weeks before planned.

The doctors are telling me that shes a strong one, and shes got the "will to survive" - a tough little one that aint gonna give up.

Fieldset & Legend Behave!

11 February 2010 mortendk 7 comments

The fieldset-legend tag is a legendary (rimshot) problem for webdesigners.
Its just that its a major pain in the ass to work with - the good thing about it is that it at least make sence for the usability nerds. But for a designer its a royale pain in the ass to look as you want it -unless you think that the outta the box fieldset-legend combination looks awesome.

Awesomeness redefined: Drupal 7 Theming

13 November 2009 mortendk 6 comments

Last time the king of denmark was here in stockholm 40 nobles were decapitated. Now I had the opportunity to present the new Drupal 7 theme layer at the Drupal Stockholm, and that will cost 40 modules their head. The 2. Bloodbath in stockholm: drupal 7 theming ;)

26 October 2009 mortendk 3 comments

how nice it would be if there was only one browser ... ooh well if they all just worked our life would be so much easier but then what should we tell warstories about around the candlefire?

Heres the second part of the Themers toolbox a bunch of infomation that i signed up to collect for the Design For Drupal group

21 October 2009 mortendk 35 comments

How I got drush to work on my macosx with mamp pro, and still my illustrator & photoshop works fine, how to do magick stuff with the terminal with out deleting to much, and learning not to use my pen to navigate my desktop...

Someone passed me a microphone ... Now ill never stop talking

a Themers toolbox # 1

12 October 2009 mortendk 13 comments
The first part of my Themers toolbox today im gonna look at a ton of Modules + some starter theme

You dont need a bass (or a guitar) to be a badass rockstar Drupal front end developer aka a themer.
To be imortalized forever and get more groupies than nikki sixx, you need some cool stuff, besides of black hair color, tatoos & cheesy songs about coding all night ;)

Drupaldag wrapup

thoughts and notes from the first Drupaldag in the rainy city Copenhagen

We had the first #drupaldag this weekend in copenhagen - and must say it went pretty cool.
Its awesome that we now can arrange small events that dont need any planning at all, and we still have 50 + people showing up and participating - and the weather sucker more than usual danish fall weather - Twitter is pretty cool for doing that.

The problem with voting

4 October 2009 mortendk 8 comments

When we have a voting like the one thats the DA have set up for selecting drupalcon 2010 & 2011 it raises some problems, and now that we are going for full transparency - and that twitter isnt the best way medium to take that debate - im gonna sum up my thoughts here.

DrupalCon 2010 + 2011

2 October 2009 mortendk 4 comments
The proposals for the next 2 years of the european DrupalCons have now been submitted, and it looks like its gonna be a race between Copenhagen, berlin and london.

To quote Robert Douglas who is on of the working force behind the new european selection process

cvs Haiku

30 September 2009 mortendk 21 comments

Yet again my lack of cvs skills failed me miserably & I had to go back and try tag files in a folder so it got released with the last version of my "html nerdy" theme mothership ( it isnt a folder or how it is in cvs?...) well I came to reflect a bit over this cvs thing
I for one have a very passionate relationship with CVS that i had to write a Haiku:

$links the garbage can of node.tpl

28 September 2009 mortendk 19 comments
A tale of about my hatred to $links and how i almost came to live with it, after i ate my own dog food.

As you may know theres ways to view all the wonderful elements that is hidden inside node.tpl files, and how you can find em' by using the nerdy module:
Devel module. Its an alpha omega module.

typekit is awesöme

24 September 2009 mortendk 10 comments
Yesterday i got my code for typekit and it is übercool
ooh yeah baby

so this is just a quick guide to get the typekit to work on you drupalsite, cause theres some small problems:

First get an account

I got my 5 invites and they are already claimed :/ - but now that i pushed mine to other drupal nerds i really hope that they send em further down the system to other drupal "frontender(s)" - yup were kinda trying to kill the term "Themer"

Devel a themers hidden treasure

19 September 2009 mortendk 14 comments
its speak like a pirate day, so lets look at a hidden theming trasure.
jespers cool pirate version of my bulldog

At my session "All your HTML are belong to us" at drupalcon Paris I asked about how many people used the "Devel" module, I thought that was a no-brainer, but much to my surprise only around 25% marked that they knew the module. That could ether be because they all were sleeping...

ie6 tax now!

16 September 2009 mortendk 13 comments
Im tired of of battling with ie6, and getting it to behave as a modern browser. Really tired.

Its not that i cant get the layouts to look the same way - its just that everything takes for ever and ever to debug, to get it right, after all  I have been doing this since 96 - so I survived the browser war, the dot com crash, and even got dhtml to work in both ie5 and navigator 4. But its getting absurd with ie6 - it is now 2 (two!) versions behind ie8.

open Atrium theme: miro

10 September 2009 mortendk 25 comments
Had to clean my mind - so i played around with the open Atrium system, and kinda throwed together a little new theme

Update: released version 0.5 with loads of visual improvements ... and no this is not tested on IE - this is a hobby project right now, so its ment to be fun ;)

jeff eaton caught me at a session

all youre html are belong to us session

As promised heres my slides from the drupalcon.
Hoped people liked the session even that i kinda dropped the whole "this is the best module ever" and went down the road of "Dude - learn you tiplphip magick and youll rock".
This was actually one of the mentally hardest session I have ever held. Don't know if it was the room or the subject? or the fact that i was speaking in a 500+ room where mark boulton, Dries boytard, Earl myles, john albin  and other "big" names gave their session.

The noise From The bedroom these days are freyas blabbering, The bulldog snorring and The gfs laughing in her sleep wtf ;) 3 hours 39 min ago
